2 Players - Signet

  • Next up on Lost Language comes Signet by 2 Players, a track originally signed to German label Afterglow but now licensed to Hooj's sister label. With this licensing comes 2 new mixes, one from Leama & Andy Moor and the other from Smith & Pledger. These mixes accompany a G & M Project (2 Players) mix and Plastic Angel mix. On the a-side of disc one is the Leama & Moor Mix. This is the shining light of the release in my opinion. A nicely paced production with a great atmosphere to it. Smooth flowing strings accompany a lush melody, while the baseline plays a major role deep into the track. A nice remix by 2 accomplished producers. On the b-side, the Afterglow boss Plastic Angel provides a more upbeat remix. The synths are the main attraction here, with a comforting but subtle melody hovering in the background. A nice trance outlook with this mix without going over the top. On the a-side to disc two the Smith & Pledger Mix again lifts the BPM count and provides a big room anthem. The track breaks down very early into the piece, and from that point nothing is subtle about this mix. Euphoric madness is the result with driving synths and a nice piano line to boot. On the flip is G & M Project Mix and is considerably similar to the mix on the flip. It follows a similar pattern with build – breakdown – then madness approach. An approach that seems to work on the dancefloor as this mix has been tested by the likes of Ferry Corsten and Armin Van Buuren. Disc one should appeal more to the progressive trance purveyors while disc two is an all out assault of euphoric mayhem. Not a bad release at all, and marks awarded for the lovely Moor and Leama mix.
