Slave To Society - Thrown To The Wolves

  • White-hot drum & bass from one half of AnD.

  • Pure Hate is a pretty intense name for a record label, and for or better or worse, the music matches up—though it's more like cathartic letting off steam than anything actually hateful. For the Berlin imprint's six release, Slave To Society (another cheery name, courtesy of AnD member Andrew Bowen) returns with another salvo of heavy drum & bass. Far from the clinical precision of most modern strains of the genre, the drums on "Thrown To The Wolves" sound bulky and corroded, and they land with a real punch to the gut. The slippery percussion is buffeted by jagged, atonal synths and dives head-first into a trance-baiting breakdown caked in a layer of distortion, soaring back into action in full-on tachycardia mode. It's just like what you would imagine AnD making drum & bass to sound like, only better. There's no hate here—only pure energy.
