- "Bobtail," the lead track from producer BufoBufo's Caracal EP is like a jigsaw puzzle made from fragments of '90s UK dance music. The track starts with a vintage rave break, classic vocal sample and some cozy 808 State style chords before a bleep bassline and delirious mentasm stabs are thrown our way. And of course the London producer adds in a gurgling 303 in the song's back half for good measure. BufoBufo—AKA Ben Murphy—has had no problem cycling through genres and tropes before: his excellent back catalog ranges from electro to tech house, but rarely do you get to hear a song like "Bobtail" that can pack the first half of a decade into six minutes.
