Echomen - Womb

  • It’s always a pleasure when you see a new release from Echomen. Their sound has represented the best of the best that House music has to offer. Deep grooves, heavy basslines, and wicked spoken vocals has always been the trademark of the three men, but with their new release Womb, they focus on the music itself in an ode to one of Japan’s finest nightclubs. The Original for "Womb" is so groovy. The combination of light synths and mid-thumping drum kicks works well as it builds to atmosphere. Soon enough, spoken words come in the picture. Very abstract, so vague, if this wasn’t made for a club environment, no one would ever know what Echomen wanted to express, yet, even listening to inside a darken nightclub, I doubt they care if it did make any sense of not. Simplistic, that’s the best way to describe the track as there isn’t much that goes on. Even with the floaty synthesized melody that catches your attention, the single doesn’t travel away from its fundamental structure of a solid drum kick and melody. With the simple nature of the track, it’s powerful non-the-less and it will drive people wild! Taking on remix duties are Mooncat. One part Echomen, one part Lexicon Avenue. Their dub of “Womb” personifies what Forensic Records is all about – the darkness. Sticky Tribal music with some of the darkest stabs to hit 2005. Less care on the melody, but constant attention towards the beats. Hitting harder, a bit faster, and at times, naughtier than it should be. A great release for Echomen who continues to show why they are still among the best in the field of House and Tribal music.
