Emrecan Cakir - Mesa / Starfall

  • Next up on the always impressive Pangea imprint comes a two tracker from a pretty young man out of Turkey by the name of Emrecan Cakir. Support from the likes of Steve Gerrard, Anthony Pappa, Shiloh and Armin Van Buuren have come with this release and it is quite clear to see why. Mesa is first up and it is a pretty strong and emotive record. Nice delicate beats flow nicely throughout, and they are surrounded by a cavalcade of smooth sounds and emotive riffs. It is quite a long production, and the track really does try to give the ‘journey’ like feel from start to finish. Starfall on the flip has more solid framework and a more ‘Progressive’ feel and build. Smooth baselines and warm pads help make this track what it is, but you can’t help but feel, much like the a-side, that the track are just missing the cutting edge making it a truly memorable release. Don’t get me wrong, this release is quite nice and has some very good aspect, but as I noted, both production really just lack the cutting edge making it a must buy release. It is though, well worth a listen.
