- Classic dubstep and grime are at the heart of the Bristol duo's first collaborative release in four years.
- Any dubstep fan should feel a tingle of nostalgia on hearing that "Yes Iyah" producer tag at the beginning of (Having A Sick Time) In The Mansions Of Bliss, Kahn & Neek's first collaborative release in four years. In that time, the Bristol sound they helped keep alive has morphed into broken techno and drum & bass fusions, but here the duo keep their eye fixed to dubstep and grime with a lighter touch than before.
All four tracks are slinky and spacious, including the Todd Edwards-style vocal cut-ups of the title track and the unnerving sustain notes on the trap-inflected "Random Lab." You get a sense this record was meant for more than just the club. "Shimmer," the duo's most elegant production yet, ends with a swirl of luscious Moog, an unexpected addition you'll only get if you're patient enough to let the whole track play out.
