Orchid - Everlasting EP

  • One of the rising talents of 2004, Orchid, gets set to make his mark on the Gravitation imprint with this latest Everlasting EP. Orchid has already made his mark on labels such as Silver Planet, Hope, Nascent and M-Theory, and this latest 4 track EP is sure to impress just as his other releases did. First up is Silverlining, a track that gets thing moving with a nice 4/4 progressive groover that features a nice deep baseline that keep the track moving along nicely from the word go. The trademark Orchid twirling melodies give the production a nice aura, and overall combine to get the EP off to a very good start. Foreverland gets the broken beat into the EP with some nice crisp beats and a dark and rumbling baseline that gives it a bit of an evil feel. Eerie melodic patterns make their way into the track before the track takes on some more uplifting melodies and really hits peak time once the baseline kicks in after the breakdown. Solid stuff. First up on the flip is The Moonflow, a track that has a similar feel to Foreverland with the nice crisp break beats and a smooth rolling baseline. There is a noticeable warm feel to most of Orchid’s productions, a feeling that is again present here with the twirling melodic riffs and smooth string patterns. Nice stuff yet again. Transmission 3001 has a bit of a retro melodic progressive feel to it with the delicate string patterns and bouncy baselines. If melodic breaks is your thing then this will send you wild as it is a fantastic production in its genre. This is a quality EP I must confess, full of melodies and emotion, two factors that really sum up the music of Orchid. Check this out if these factors appeal to you.
