- The next release on Screen Recordings comes from the Israeli production veteran in Mo Shic combined with the talents of DJ Asi Kojack. The duo delivers an original mix on the a-side, while Mo Shic goes solo with his reworking on the flip.
The Original Mix on the a-side has the trademark deep and dark sound that Mo Shic has almost made his own in the last few years. The beats are tough and dark, combined with moody sounds and atmosphere for the first half of the track. Some subtle melodies ride in the track towards the middle parts, adding a quite eerie feel, an eeriness that is apparent in the breakdown where vocals echo alongside minimal percussive elements. The track then enters the dark rumbling phase in its conclusion.
The Mo Shic Mix on the flip shares a few similar traits then the Original. Again the beats are quite dark and chugging, however, there is a noticeable rise in atmosphere in effects and general sounds in this reworking. On the whole though, the production is a little too similar to eh a-side.
Not a bad release here for Screen. Fans of Mo Shic’s work in particular will know what to expect here, but for me it’s not his best work, despite the fact it is still very solid.
