- If DMX Krew really is sad, as his recent album title suggested, it sure doesn't sound that way. The veteran producer makes some of the most cheerful dance music around, none of which lands on the wrong side of cheesy. His new Malekko Phase Mod EP has a particularly satisfying positive groover in "Low Star," an acid-tinged house track that feels made for sunrise DJ play. The groove stomps and the mood is bright, with just a hint of melancholy in its pads. Best of all is the wriggling acid line, which darts between the swinging percussion. Save it for when it's time to brighten the room.
