Muzo - The Mack / Fokker dude

  • Its hard to believe that this is only there 3rd release, seems like Segment have been around for a ages. Since its launch back in September 2003 with Eelke Kleijn’s ep 4.5 Billion years, it seems as if they are very careful in what they sign, not a bad thing really in this day ‘n age!! A – Side : The Mack, starts of with deep techy beats and dark percussive stabs, then the rolling bass drops, which picks the track up, just in time, leading to the drop with a spoken vocal sample, nice synth sounds and noises! But to be honest that’s about it the track just chugs and chugs! B - Side: Fokker Dude on the flip, No messing about here, This starts of with a nice upbeat progressive bass line and the percussion just builds and builds around it, The bass keeps a constant structure and is the backbone to the track with added bass sounds to make it fuller (which it does), again this has a spoken vocal in, but sounds really good in this mix, light melodies creep up on you with out you noticing, before you know it Fokker dude is in full flow. A solid mix, definitely my favourite out the 2 tracks. With the release of James Talk’s – Beef curtains imminent in August things are looking good for this relatively new label.
