Sleepfreaks - Light Jockey / Strobe Donkey

  • The Sleepfreaks duo of Paul Rogers and Darko return for some chunky house action on the Sumsonic imprint with two brand spanking new productions to add to their repertoire. After their last outing on the label with ‘House Come Save Me’, the lads have not disappointed with their follow up, with two very solid productions the result. First up is Light Jockey, and it doesn’t waste too much time in getting into gear. The beats start the proceedings and it is shortly followed by the deep driving baseline, which the duo has almost perfected in their productions. A collection of synths and twisted samples give the track its cutting edge, and in total, the sounds and driving beats really combine to make a solid production. On the flip, Strobe Donkey is a little more twisted and peak time. The beats are yet again intense and driving, but the sounds and effects are slightly more twisted then the a-side which is quite a feat. A gritty analogue hook features throughout, and the track builds for the most part, until it hits quite a nice breakdown deep in that is very musical and pleasant. Two good tracks and a good release for Sumsonic that should impress. It appears the label is not settling for anything but the highest of quality in their release schedule!
