Blast Furnace Vs. Lynx – New Beginnings

  • The next release on Gravitation sees the combined efforts of Chris Sterio under his Blast Furnace guise meet Steve McGrath under his Lynx moniker to create New Beginnings. With an original as well as a remix from Andro and an original production from Lynx, this little package looks to be quite solid. First up is the Original Mix and from the outset this track builds nicely with some solid drum loops as well as some nice humming effects that combine nicely with wobbling base tones. Essentially the track flows with the same elements, with short breaks and mini breakdowns, accompanied with a nice chugging baseline that comes in midway. Taking all this in, it is quite a solid production in its entirety! Following this is Lynx with Rainbow. Definitely not a club track, this production flows nice and calmly with some smooth beats and twinkling effects. Smooth subtle strings come in and out deep into the track creating quite a nice downtempo cut. On the flip is Andro’s 34 Degree Remix of New Beginnings. A lot more chunkier then the original, this track builds with some large crisp drums and a nice flowing baseline. The smooth effects from the original are used nicely and they build quite effectively until the track hits a nice soothing breakdown midway. The baseline is first to come back in shortly followed by the crisp hard kick drum, Quite a nice remix from Andro who has been quite impressive with many of his productions not only here, but in the past as well. A pretty solid outing here for Gravitation with the b-side in particular producing quite a highlight.
