Ben Camp – Syndrome / Burial Ground

  • Silver Planet Recordings again look to a youngster to provide the goods for the label, this time using the talents of 20 Year Old American Production Ben Camp. With releases already on Fade, Kubist, Movim, and now Silver Planet, this is a young man with a bit of experience already, which is shown in these two productions. On the a-side is the very large Syndrome. And I say very large because this track is simply hot. The track builds with some solid drums, shortly before an ‘Infusion’ influenced throbbing base enters the scene and gives the track a good flow. The track continues to build until it starts hitting some trickling melodies midway, leading into a broken beat breakdown that sees some nice strings take control. The baseline enters again, and again it leads into some even bigger string patterns late in the track, that give this track a very 90’s progressive feel to it. A very impressive production. On the b-side, Burial Ground delivers a not as peak time flow of music. The track is notably darker then the a-side, and very tribal based, as big drum pattern dominate the soundscape. Quirky, stuttered effects enter the track deep in, as do some heavy base sounds in the background, continuing the deep and dark nature of the production. All in all this is a pretty solid release from Silver Planet, with the a-side sure to be the main player in the release.
