Dave Robertson – For Her Addiction EP

  • Cuba Recordings was one of those labels that continually impressed in its debut year last year, and this year looks to be no different as we now reach the 6th release for the label. The release comes from a young promising talent by the name of Dave Robertson, and his For Her Addiction EP looks to be one of the strongest release on the label so far. The a-side gets the ball rolling straight from the word go with a very strong and anthemic production in For Her. The track relies on the main melodic tones of the main electro influenced baseline that sees the track flow in great style. The drums and unique sounds and effects that surround the main sound are indeed quite well produced, especially in the main breakdown midway through which sees some higher tones soft synths give the track a slightly more uplifting edge. All in all though, the track is beautifully arranged and has more then enough to make it a very solid dancefloor orientated anthem. Addictive takes the tone a few notches down and it produces a deep dark dirty late night electronic feast. The drums are slightly quirkier too, and the churning nature of the baseline all combine to make this one for the tech heads who like it a bit more evil. The breakdown midway sees the baseline change in tone, leading to a slightly trippy break in proceedings. Yet again though, it’s another quality production from Dave. The Intro Track closes out the EP providing some beatless moments of smooth sound and effects, all again beautifully constructed, and sure to make a great DJ tool for the intros or momentary breaks in a set. A great EP from the Cuba lads, and an EP that also make the name Dave Robertson a little more widely known and appreciated, as it is clear to see his has a talent for making quality tunes.
