- Course 3 of the From Ciociaria with Dub EP makes its way on to the Mantra Vibes label, and it unleashes two quality smooth productions. This EP follows ‘course 2’, which gave Alex Dolby his brilliant debut on the label with the very popular ‘Psiko Garden’.
First up on the a-side is Maskio Vs. Giorgio Roma with ’Open Cage’. The track builds nicely for the first half, with a subtle looped synth and smooth drum patterns. The track slowly intensifies, but then enters a breakdown filled with swirling effects, combined with the looped synth from the main body. The drums come back in as does the swirling effects creating a solid groove.
Enrico Ferrari is on the flip with his slightly down tempo ’Trocadero Sky’ weighing in at a smooth 120bpm. Ferrari again travels down a smooth house path with a cheeky female vocal sample, as well as a pulsating baseline that rumbles for most of the track. The track maintains a similar arrangement throughout, except for an increase in the drum patterns late on. The track takes a nice funky turn towards the end with some nice uplifting house vibes.
A pretty good EP this one from the Italian stable, and it offers nice variety in the two tracks.
