- Originally released in July of 2003, When I Return by Darko feat Bnannmakes its return with a set of remixes from Paul Rogers.
On the a-side the Paul Rogers Vocal builds for the first few minutes with a solid drum pattern and wobbly analogue ripples giving the track a good groove early on. The vocal slowly but surely makes its appearance, and when it fully kicks in, smooth flowing synths subtly work some atmosphere in the background. It’s a smooth outing topped off by funky synths deep into the track.
On the flip is the Paul Rogers Dub. Rogers sticks to the winning formula he used with the vocal, using similar sounds and effects, as well as using little snippets of the vocal. It builds in a similar way with smooth synths building in layers as the track progresses, and all in all is a good alternative for those that would like to give the vocal a miss.
A pretty solid set of remixes from Paul Rogers with the only complaint being the both mixes are musically a little similar. Nevertheless, Rogers works the original track quite well with these remixes.
