Cardboard - A Thought About You

  • Only 3 releases in with this one, and Cuba has already started to gather a very promising reputation. Cardboard (Mick Burns) is the man in charge for the third release, and delivers a vocal cut by the name of A Thought About You. With releases under the names of Panoptic, Gazor and Bluehaze, you should really expect nothing but the best from Mick Burns. U & K’s ‘LoveLez’ Remix is first up, and with the kind of form these Finnish lads are in, you can also expect the best from this remix. They deliver a great remix inspired by funky electro riffs and smooth flowing beats that gives the production a great flow. The vocals ride the production nicely without ever going over the top, and all in all it’s a another winner from the European duo. The Thought-apella DJ Tool provides the vocal on its own for the creative DJ types. The Original Mix provides a summery type atmosphere with the smooth effects and delicate beats that feature early on. The vocal features in an epic breakdown midway that uses some beautiful string patterns and melodic touches. The summery beats and vibes return to the track late on to close out the production in a pretty formulaic method. All in all it’s another solid release from Cuba, who seem to be very picky about only releasing quality on their label.
