We've Been Dropped - Acid Caracas

  • Next up on Music Is Freedom is a production by duo Dino Lenny and Rob Aker, known as We’ve Been Dropped. The production is Acid Caracas, and it’s been out on Italian label Dubtronic recordings for the last 2 years, however, MIF thought it needed a UK release to give it the credit it deserved. This time, it comes with a remix from US producer Smight, who adds a unique twist on things. Firstly on the a-side is the Original Mix. The production begins with a unique drum loop, which is accompanied with a booming baseline. A nice electro synth soon takes over and makes the production its own, as the track builds in the first half. Midway through, the track breaks down, introducing a twist in the main melody and a nice driving baseline to boot. It takes even another twist towards the end as the main synths go into overdrive. A nice summer production this one. On the flip is Smight’s Ghost in the Machine Mix. It begins with a nice and unique drum pattern, not quite 4/4, not quite broken. The main synths ride the background of the production for the first half as the track builds, as does an eerie sound which may explain the ‘Ghost in the Machine’ remix title. Some nice subtle strings and a cute baseline also help to make this production what it is. The track stops and starts in the latter half as the main synths rise above the other sounds. It’s a quirky, but quality mix from Smight. Another good release on MIF, with both mixes providing quality moments. Think good tech-house grooves with a summery vibe.
