2000 and One - Analogue Dreams

  • By this point, it's clear that 100% Pure has put all of their chips on driving tech house. With the decline of record sales, you can't blame them. Distributors only want good bets. Many people who have built something worth holding onto are trying to manage risk the best they can. It sure doesn't make for exciting music, though. 2000 & One's latest, Analogue Dreams, is just the latest interchangeable release from his own stable, and—whether he meant it or not—it acts as a signal to other producers on his label. "This is what 100% Pure sounds like right now." That sound is functional, rolling and completely devoid of any personality whatsoever. Well-produced? Unbelievably so. 2000 & One knows the ins and outs of his equipment like few others in the Amsterdam scene. But none of the three tracks here are catchy enough to make Afrojack excited or rude enough for Gerd Janson to stroke his beard approvingly. Everything on Analogue Dreams is safe, and that might be the worst thing of all.
