- Bristol’s NRK make quality house music, and this fifth singles collection provides an ideal introduction to their sound. Throw in a bonus mix CD from Chris Lum and you have a package well worth looking into.
The vibe is funky, often minimal, and is typified in cuts such as Ian Pooley’s ‘Fly Shuffle’ (shake a leg!), King Britt’s cool take on the yearning vocal of Q-Burns’ ‘Innocent’ and Audio Soul Project’s ‘Freefalling’, stripped to the bare bones in Jamie Anderson’s remix. And of course there’s space for Miguel Migs and the popular ‘Dubpusher’, a tune finding its way into many recent compilations.
Don’t be worried that the second CD looks like a repeat of the first – Chris Lum’s mixing is sound and builds up the momentum well.
