- This 12-inch of edits by Japanese DJ/collector KZA (who is also half of Force of Nature) acts much like a natural force itself. But rather than hit like thunder and lightning, it's like how sunshine, a mushroom ring or rust works, slowly and imperceptibly, but to devastating effect. "Goodie Goodie" is—not surprisingly—Goody Goody's "It Looks Like Love": lush with its sibilant whispers, flutes, and jazzy keyboard lines that run diagonally across the beat. KZA doesn't need to do much with it, as the track naturally peels it back to just the kick and a bevy of rattles, building back to a sweet release and the cooed adage of "We got love."
On the flip, KZA gently tugs at Voyage's "I Love You Dancer" and another drum-heavy Canadian rock-disco track, nearly doubling its length into something unbelievably funky. So while at a glance, these three might feel a tad inconsequential, cheesy even, KZA's touch slowly transforms them; after a few plays the grooves become far deeper, the breaks transportive. Which is the sort of alchemy any good DJ or natural force does.
