Uberzone & Rennie Pilgrem - Cous Cous

  • It's been 3 years since the last Uberzone and Rennie Pilgrem collaboration, Black Widow, was released. It became a breaks anthem and acknowledged by many as one of the first tribal nu skool breaks tracks. Now in 02, Rilgrem and Q push boudaries further again with Cous Cous. Royale Mix Starting off with a clean breakbeat pattern, the listener is definitely going to be unaware of what they are in for with this. Using arabian influenced female vocals and some very interesting percussion sounds. Many build ups and breakdowns to hype up the mood. This track should belong on Tribalizm yet sadly never made it. Superstyle Courgette Mix Bongo breaks introduce this track with a few subtle female vocal cuts, building up to an early climax. Deep bass tones compliments with a few weird tech stabs thrown in the mix. Darker and slightly 2-steppy compared to the Royale mix, this one is for the lights out, heads down, let's get serious part of a set. 3 years on and Uberzone and Pilgrem continue to innovate the breaks sound. Not really as catchy as Black Widow though, however it opens a few new doors in the world of breaks.
