- International Freakshow's young and prolific producer, Matt Star, had a memorable 2008—especially for someone only 21 years old. But it's on this remix package that he's really made his name, even if the only thing he offers here is source material. Star's contribution is invaluable to fellow rising star Hugo, who takes Star's original and transforms it into a monumental groove that has rightfully seen it grace the heights of the RA charts in December.
Hugo's groove has much to do with the success of his remix, but it's also down to the unexpected vocal snatches, clouds of static and melodies that lie underneath going nowhere in particular—and happily doing so. Hugo's mix is full of mild disruption, enough to keep you interested, but not enough to distract from the main attraction. Jonas Kopp's take has even more disruption. A messy dub-inspired mix, Kopp shines brightest when he begins to work the beat against an aquatic organ. It's an inspired move that won't have peaktime dance floors in a tizzy, but will probably soundtrack your next lobotomy quite nicely.
