- Johannes Heil had considerable success last year with his LP on Klang, with tracks from the album getting played throughout the clubbing world and ‘Warrior of Light’ even crossing the indie gauntlet and becoming a staple in Erol Alkan's sets. For this remix 12”, Heil has brought in Klang's own Boardroom along with Cocoon's Tobi Neumann.
Boardroom have the harder task here, taking on the album's biggest smash, ‘Warrior of Light’. They bring the track on a deeper, dubbier journey, removing the sharp edges and turning it into something darker and more restrained. It's a nice rework, although it inevitably suffers a bit from the success of the original.
Neumann's "Swinging Mix" of ‘All For One’, on the other side, is a wonky house workout which sounds a little like a more discofied Akufen and is a pretty surefire hit on any dancefloor. A wobbling bassline gives way to an almost Moroder like climax, and over almost ten minutes Neumann builds a psychedelic groove to a climax and dismantles it again more times than most clubs will be able to bear. This is a really great piece of work and a track you'll find yourself playing over and over, especially if you're a DJ.
All in all, this is a nice remix 12” from Klang and a further addition to Tobi Neumann's already impressive repertoire.
