Llorca feat. Nicole Graham – Indigo Blues remixes

  • The first I heard of this song was in the latest Dimitri from Paris CD – After The Playboy Mansion and it appeared on the Uplifting mix. It is one of the highlight songs of the mix as well. Presented here in 12” form are the remixes from Faze Action, Alex Kid and Interform (Llorca’s other moniker). Side A: Faze Action mix. Strong Latin inspiration and heavy percussion make up this mix. Not as dancefloor oriented as the original, this is more of a relaxing version as they filtered the vocals to make them sound less featured than the original. This one is meant to be played either live with a full band as Faze Action usually do, or in the privacy of the lounge room. Has that typical jazzy Faze Action/Truby Trio/Jazzanova feel to it. Side AA: Alex Kid Club Mix. A funky 70’s disco guitar opens up this song, and it has that jazzy disco feel to it but before you put on the platforms and funky afro, you need to realise that this isn’t that retro sounding at all just funkier than the original and is the highlight of this release. After hearing this version, Dimitri could have made his mix a lot hotter if he had replaced the original with this. The steel drum sounding samples add a carnival atmosphere as well. Interform Mix. Deep and moody is the vibe on this mix, done by Llorca himself. Starting off with just a bass drum and building up from there. The bass line has changed in style from the funky style as in the other two mixes to a more electronic and synthetic sound with a complicated pattern. Doesn’t have as much appeal as the other two however it needs to be heard as the mood suits the song title well.
