Tom Real & Rogue Element - He's So Hot Right Now/Resistance.06

  • Following up their highly successful Just Bash Out (indeed a tune that was the butt of a lot of sexual innuendo!) and their remix of Dreadzone's King Dub Rock, Tom Real & Rogue Element deliver another pair of dancefloor devastation with a groovy electro belter and a stadium rocking remake of their first ever production. Side A. He's So Hot Right Now Crossing between house and breakbeat is the groovy A-side which features lots of of electro elements and big squelchy drops in the introduction. Just when you "think you're taking crazy pills", the duo drop an even bigger bassline that absolutely destroys dancefloors and team it up with big rising sweeps, chopped up vocal effects and subtle electro hooks - they've found the recipe for something big. As for the vocal samples, they come from a very popular comedy film and it's best that I leave you to figure it out for yourself... mugatu do so!!! Side B. Resistance.06 Tom and Ben's first collaborative effort came in the form of Resistance Is Futile which made its way onto Will White's Beats & Bobz 2 mix CD back in 2003. According to the boys it was rather shakily produced and not having heard it myself, I really can't comment. They've updated the tune for 2006 and given the tune an unrelenting bottom end. To spice things up they've also incorporated un-DJ friendly 2-bar synth drops to challenge the bar-counting DJs out there. On top of this they lay down some electro vocodered stabs and during the JDS style massive breakdown, they drop a vocodered "do not resist the beat" vocal sample. The duo are certainly improving their style from the days of High Noon and this firmly cements their place in the breaks scene.
