  • More breakbeat madness coming from DJ Quest. Compared to other releases on Rat and Cyberfunk Records this one on Wireframe is a little less 2-steppy but still maintains the funk and vibe we've come to expect from a potential dancefloor stormer. Test Tone. DJ Quest must have taken out the old breakbeat/early jungle tracks from 90-92 like 2 Bad Mice and listened to them frequently as it seems to be the inspiration for this track. The beat has that slowed down jungle feel with the kick and snare drum madness you could almost swear this was meant to be a drum'n'bass track. The bassline hits you after a nice drum intro and it's got a wobble to it - what better way to get asses shaking than by creating a bassline so deep and low it could possibly incite bowel movements! Only thing is it feels a little too slow in it's original form. When put at +4 on the turntable this baby sounds unbelievable. File Transfer. More deep low end bass madness with that old skool breaks feel. DJ Quest just doesn't stop with the history lessons and he definitely knows how to create awesome tracks. The bassline on this puppy is so damn dark and evil it's got it's pitchfork at hand and it's hoofed foot is about to kick you in the arse. Its even got some wicked samples in it from a sci-fi movie, where a female voice computer is talking about transferring of data. Duh! I wonder why he named the track File Transfer? DJ Quest's production skills are awesome, however it is hard to tell who he is trying to impress - the breakbeat heads or a dancefloor crowd. Some of his tracks just don't have that dancefloor feel, especially File Transfer - it's just a bit too dark for the floor - and that's where this release loses out. Unless he puts good quality dancefloor-oriented tracks like Test Tone on his 12's, DJ's are bound to leave this awesome vinyl at home and it would sound so damn awesome on a big system too!
