Slacker - Memory man/Free man

  • Here's the latest instalment from Jukebox in the sky whose current release Cha Cha from Steiger has been creating noise on dancefloors, showing a new diversity in releases. Its back to business this time round however with a refreshing double A sider from boss man Slacker. Memory Man is the main track and begins with a light mix of straight forward percussion which sets a pace while a distant piano line starts to seduce us. That's where normality ends as from this point the track gets the Slacker twist , adding warpy vocals and roaring bassline which raise it up a notch as elements are delayed, intertwined and tweaked, creating a dark and dreamy flow. The B side has Free Man which is more focussed on rhythms and melodies controlling the groove, beefing up the percussion along with twinkling synth patterns that work their way around each other.Added to this is wailing vocal cuts that come to the fore at the break providing a more uplifting, spatial take. This is another amazingly solid release from Jukebox in the sky who never fail to deliver anything but quality with both tracks having all the charisma & panache of a Slacker production that gets right inside you.
