Chris Salt – Future House

  • The name Chris Salt may be familiar to many of you through his quality productions, mostly appearing on the cracking Silver Planet label. This time, the young man who has impressed so greatly through his own production, mixes those of others in just as impressive style with this, his latest mix compilation, Future House. Being a new artist on to the scene, you can forgive me for not having any real expectations when listening to this mix, a clean slate so to speak as compared to the more established DJ’s who probably have something a bit extra to prove with each mix. From the word go, however, this mix is very exciting. ‘Depressed Feelings’ is a great production early on in the mix which sets a great mood, closely backed up by Somnus Corp’s solid ‘Sistema De Fe’. ‘Dave Is A Robot’ by Marscruiser & David Josephs is an interesting track early in the mix, using some twirling synth lines to give the mix a quirky feel as well. Rhythm Code and Chris Lake unleash a dirty remix of De’Lacy’s classic in ‘Hideaway’, a great highlight of the album. Blake Potter’s ‘Timelocked’ is one of those modern masterpieces with stunning melodies and a deep evil bassline. Slacker unleash their usual quirkiness in ‘Goodam Voodoo Noize’ as the mix starts to hit peak time. Chris Salt unleashes a solid remix of Vector 13’s ‘God Has Lost Its Soul’ using an array of swirling melodies is what is a beautiful part of the album and Chris ends the album with ‘Digital Aesthetics’, another melodic piece of work. For those that love a bit of melody and energy in an album then this is sure to please. From the first track, the album flows at a good strong pace, using energetic productions and to create a very solid progressive and prog breaks journey that demonstrates the talents that Chris has as a DJ as well as a very strong producer.
