  • Following up his last release on Hardcore Beats, The Feeling with I.D. Baobinga returns to the label with a full 12" release featuring two collaborations - Buss Diss with I.D. and Focus with Control Z. Buss Diss is also featured in the brand new Hardcore Beats 2 CD mixed by label managers Ollywood and Ed209. In traditional Baobinga style, expect to hear breakbeats which blur the boundaries between breaks, drum'n'bass, hip hop and grime. Buss Diss with I.D. Pushing a staggering 140bpms is Buss Diss and in many ways has a similar feel to Baobinga's "The Session" tune from late last year. A pent-up male vocal instructs the listener to "buss diss shit!" whilst Bao and I.D. lay down really tight and crisp drum beats with proper cymbal work - and that's just the damn intro. The first breakdown introduces the bouncy bassline which sounds like a cross between a siren and a synth. There's sci-fi stabs which feel like the boys have been listening to way too much "6 million dollar man" and "Battlestar Galactica" combined. It's somewhat simple in its execution yet deadly on the dancefloor. Focus with Control Z On a much deeper tip, Focus kicks off with a dark and moody buildup perhaps one that DJs would find hard to mix and would be straining to monitor for the mix in. All that aside, once the heavy metal style drum fill kicks in, the tune goes full slog dropping hard tear-out breaks and bassline courtesy of Control-Z most likely! Baobinga's influence comes into play when he drops the triplet style breakbeat patterns and drum fills on occasion throughout the tune. Focus then delves into a half tempo breakdown which definitely brings out the rock edge to the tune. This is an awesome release and definitely much better than the last one done by Ed209 - which after multiple listens starts to sound like it's hurting my ears (especially that Dr. Hoover tune). Please take that into consideration even though I'm scoring this one officially less.
