- One of the finer producers in the last few years in Phil Thompson, aka Moonface, returns to the scene with a release on Greek based Erase Recordings. Two new productions here from a very talented man.
Free Your Body Baby is first up, and Phil delivers a pretty driving production here with some nice vocal looped effects working well with a deep driving baseline and good quirky effects. The track has a great energy throughout, thanks to the cavalcade of sounds and smooth vocal effects, which are quite uncharacteristic from Phil. It does work very well though and comes highly recommended.
On the flip is Ripples which is quite driving and heads into the techno areas. Intense drum patterns meet some nice groovy yet driving baselines as well as some subtle surrounding sounds. Again quite a different track to what we are used to from Phil, but nevertheless this is very deep and moving stuff.
It’s a welcome return to a pretty good talent, and there are two pretty good tracks in this release to see him make a welcome return to form.
