- The success of Mylo last year looks to have opened the doors to acts such as Cut / Copy, a three piece from Melbourne that successfully fuse the old with the new. Steeped heavily in the 80s, ‘Saturday’ has the kind of wistfully uplifting chorus that recalls the best moments of Talking Heads and, er, OMD.
Two versions of ‘Future’ are also included, with Chromeo’s remix indulging in the 80s penchant for block synthesizer chords and !!! contributing an effective but strangely disembodied version.
‘Saturday’ gets a techno makeover from Headman, an instrumental mix packed with machine noises, while Kingroc consciously takes the track back to the dancefloor, introducing a brilliantly funky bass line. Top stuff, highly recommended.
