Cass - Giant

  • Giant is finally about to hit stores after making an appearance in Dave Seaman’s Global Underground mix as well as seeing strong support from John Digweed and Cass himself. First up is the Cass 4-4-2 Mix. The track build very nicely in this mix, with smooth drum patterns working well early alongside a smooth clapping percussion. The gritty guitar stabs tease the track into action leading into the smooth melodic interludes that really take off deep into the production. The Cass Red 5 Mix is my personal preference, as the sounds and effects really lend themselves to a more breakbeat percussive style used here. Again the track builds nicely and steps up a notch midway in when the swirling effects come in, and then really takes off once again once the driving synth patterns dominate the production late on. As they say, a good track is always a good track, and despite the fact that ‘Giant’ has been doing the goods for a few years now, it still sounds as fresh as the very first time. A solid release by Cass yet again.
