Jay Cunning & One Sinner - Bad Girls/Bad Man

  • The latest release from 2s2 Records is a collaboration between label boss One Sinner (aka Carl from the 2 Sinners) and Jay Cunning co-presenter of the Menu Sessions on Breaks FM with Terry from Atomic Hooligan. Jay makes his production debut here with two hard hitting breaks tunes aimed at destroying the dancefloor. Side A. Bad Girls The tune opens up with a funky breakbeat and a jazzy flute sample, some electro samples and a "Bad Girls!" vocal shout sampled from an old funk tune - similar to what the Plumps did in Funk Hits The Fan. The meat of the tune kicks in when they drop in a dark, growling bassline reminiscent of what the Freestylers did in their Raw As Fuck guise - on a deep sublow tip. Dark and aggressive shit! Side B. Bad Man Not too sure if this one is a remix of Bad Girls or if it is a completely new tune but Bad Man takes things back to the early acid rave days and starts off with a lone 303 acid hook - perfect for laying on top of other beats so it's DJ friendly too! After a massive build up the beats kick in with a ragga "Bad Man" vocal shout. Out of the two this one is my pick and would work well as a climax tune or one to close out a set. With the exception of the vocal samples used in both tracks, I think they've gotten the titles mixed up - Bad Girls is definitely one for the blokes with its big testosterone fueled bass line and I have a feeling the girls would really dig the acid hook and massive sounds on Bad Man.
