Sander Kleinenberg - The Fruit

  • In probably his most funked out attempt to date, Sander Kleinenberg delivers a mind-boggling club track that moves those bootys to wiggle like no other track can. This bad boy has been doing the rounds for quite a while now. Originally as a one-sided release, now when you buy this special 12”, you get the Buick Project Mix on the flip as a bonus! How’s that for a marketing idea; works for me, but for those who bought The Fruit as a one-sider…suckers (I guess you should have waited). The Original Fruit is just one of those tracks that will appeal to anyone. Whither you’re into house, breaks, tech, trance, or progressive, you will love this! It’s so fresh, so clean, even your own mother and father will dig this. Along for the ride is Fluke’s Jon Fugler as he gives a spoken word analogy of dance music and ‘the fruit’. Working that phat bassline that’s just filthy, it just oozes with arrogance. Chunky beats broken up to hip-hop form, filthy basslines that snares down your throat and horns to shallow you whole, Sander makes no apologies for this creation. As in the same spirit as Eric Prydz’s “Call on Me,” this cheeky resurgence of grooveyphunkfeast is a warm welcome to remind where dance music’s roots began – inside the confides of a nightclub having a few drinks with friends while celebrating life. Moving on an entirely different drum, the Buick Project’s Mix is a darker, more tribal light to work with. Twisting John’s vocals to give it just a touch of sleaziness to go along with the dirtier mix, this one chugs the balls without stopping the beat. For those who just can’t touch the cheeky original and feels as though it crosses the line between cool and cheesy, then this mix will do the trick. The only downside to this mix is that the levels for John’s vocal are too low and they sit behind the music. Other than that, it’s a good mix that everyone will be happy to own. The biggest release for Sander’s Little Mountain Recordings to date and well the most popular if the crowd reaction is any indication. With 2005 already in gear and partygoers eagerly waiting for the weekend, expect this piece of pie to continue giving you the funk every time.
