Lynx – Effected EP

  • Lynx follows up his Future Funk EP on Gravitation with another full EP, with 4 new original productions. The Effected EP yet again showcases the variety Lynx has found in his production in the last year. Danger is first up, and it’s a deep smooth progressive cut that gets the EP off to a good start. Deep reverberating beats alongside a good solid baseline give the track a good base, and the smooth effects and atmospheric help build the track from the midpoint, making it a very good mid set builder. The soothing ambient sounds of Hallucination follow, with its deep strings and atmospheric synths. Nothing too groundbreaking, yet it works well as an atmospheric reprise. First up on the flip is Effect, a production that has a similar build to the track on the a-side. Again smooth solid beats combine well with a set of atmospheric elements, and deep subtle baselines. Unlike the a-side however, this production is probably a little more upbeat and melodic, with nice melodies coming into the track midway in. Very smooth in total. First Light follows and it sees Lynx turn in a smooth broken beat production. It is probably the most interesting production of the lot, as it features some nice swirling melodies as well as a very funky baseline that gives it a great flow. Overall this is another nice EP from Lynx with solid productions all round. I particularly must recommend First Light, which is quite unique and very upbeat.
