Kraymon - The Star & Garter/Hubris

  • After releasing tracks on labels such as Streetwise, Freakaboom, en:vision and Boombox to critical acclaim, Kraymon provides MBN two tunes soaked in party beats and summer flavours. The Star & Garter is the name of a Bristolian pub where it has become tradition to finish the night off post party drinking at the establishment. During one of these nights, Kraymon decided to give MBN two tracks and they named one of them after the pub! Side A. The Star & Garter A producer who I usually wouldn't associate with party breaks, Kraymon's just blown my expectations away with this tune. A latin guitar riff plays throughout the track accompanied by crisp drum beats and a lovely synth melody. After the build up Kraymon hammers it down with a massive bass line that should rumble bassbins nicely. Side AA. Hubris Hubris opens up with an electro arpeggio melody accompanied by tribal percussion for a subtle introduction before a male vocal sample hits you with "Funky" and unleashes a acidic bass driven tech-funker, with plenty of old skool electro elements chucked in for good measure. The second progression/phase in the track introduces a synth solo to give the tune a little melody before returning to the electro-funk bizness.
