  • Tall Paul's debut album solidifies his status as a leading figure in the dance music world. His residency at Trade nightclub in London grew to include top UK clubs such as Godskitchen, Gatecrasher and Cream. Paul also runs his own record label Duty Free Recordings. Paul's Top 40 hits "Rock da house", "Let me show you" and "Precious heart" are all included on this album. "Precious heart"s Lush remix opens the album with a more laid back version of his re-working of INXS's track "Never tear us apart" before unfolding the original single mix. "Everybody's a rockstar" builds to a medium paced beat enveloping smooth beats with harmonious synths. The classic "Let me show you" is first on the nostalgia trip; building the pace to a crescendo of samples, drums and catchy melodic bass. "God's love" has a strong Hi NRG feel to the construction of the keyboard arrangements and drums. This track features a subtle sampling of Cameo's track "Money". "Be there", written and produced by Tall Paul, is driven by keyboards and soft sampling of the title lyrics. This track has spent many a month on the dance floor circuit worldwide with it's variance in beats and musical colours. "Take it easy" travels over a soft reggae beat and is a perfect accompaniment to any chill out classics, although a little repetitive on the sampling of the vocals. Another track from the classic stakes is "Rock da house" with it's deep and rhythmic bass which takes you on a journey of uplifting vocals, gospel organ and sampled crowd cheers. All these elements intertwine perfectly to create an uplifting track which is full of energy. The last track on Back and Forth is "Freefall" which is an ambience driven instrumental soundscape. Paul combines violin effects and guitars with sounds reminiscent of underwater soundtracks. Soothing and refined, this track seems as if it is straight from a blockbuster film. Back and Forth is a showcase of Tall Paul's tremendous talent and diversity ranging over ten years.
