  • Beneath the likes of Get Physical, Souvenir and Innervisions is a rung of Berlin labels that over the years have played a big part in shaping the city's club scene. With a ten-year back catalogue that spans Berlin's myriad dance floor trends, Paso Music is one such example. For the imprint's latest EP, head-honcho Marc Miroir teams up with well-regarded local vocalist Elif Biçer for Paso's biggest record in recent memory. Taking as comfortably to serene deep house (Prosumer & Murat Tepeli, Steffi) as she does gloomy techno (Ben Klock), Biçer has proven a versatile performer since first picking up the mic, in 2001. On "Let Me Go," she's presented within a thumping club frame that recalls Steffi and Virginia's 2010 smash "Yours." As agile stabs march across a bed of throbbing kicks, fizzing claps and a floor-shaking bassline, Biçer adopts the role of tech-house diva, exploring the full range of her striking tones. The result is a straightforward peak-time weapon. By comparison, the dub mix is considerably stripped-back. Leaving out much of the clutter of the original to ensure a less turbulent ride, it's likely to prove popular amongst a more considered strand of DJ.
