George Fitzgerald - I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)

  • There's little pretense about George Fitzgerald's first single for Double Six, an offshoot of the leading indie label Domino. I Can Tell (By The Way You Move) finds him in the same paddock as names such as Spiritualized, Steve Mason and Jon Hopkins & King Creosote. But none of these, as far as we're aware, has made an unabashed attempt to secure a club anthem, and "I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)" is very much that kind of record. It's all here: crying bass synth stabs (they're very Huxley), thudding kicks set high in the mix, '90s-style vocal loops (very Tensnake), a crowd-pleasing breakdown. It'll have plenty muttering about how Fitzgerald has sold his soul, but you sense he'll continue to reserve his less brazen, darker tunes for the likes of Aus and Hotflush.
