Suitdancer - Wireworld

  • Suitdancer is a new project from Marcus Harris, formerly one half of soulful deep house duo Tone Control. The first in a three-part series, Wireworld drops on Harris' own Tone Control Music, and showcases the Madrid producer's spacier, more left-field tastes. Harris is a self-confessed former sci-fi nerd, and Wireworld bares all the hallmarks of time spent with futuristic soundscapes. On the title track, a wobbly, slow-mo groove underpins a rich, shape-shifting palette of spacey synths and melodies, giving it an emotive gleam. Mr Beatnick gives the original a dubby, dance floor edge with his remix, although the shift in gear doesn't quite suit Harris' sedate synth lines. "Copshow," which Harris says is the theme tune to his prospective police drama, packs the most attitude, with a spirited bassline, sweeping pads and purposeful stabs. At only 90 seconds long, "The Complex" is a snapshot of rapidly escalating synths and regal chords, before "Nightwave" rounds things off in a warm, celestial haze.
