Tom Dicicco - Under The Aquadrome Pt.1

  • Tom Dicicco's debut release was in 2010 on the Hirschau-based Baud label. Since then, he's released two EPs through Traut Muzik and collaborated with Kowton for Project Squared, while co-running Inner Surface Music with AnD. Now, as the first release on his own Run Out Run imprint, comes the first installment of the Under The Aquadorme series. Less dub-derived than his past output, three of the four tracks here find Dicicco pursuing a higher-octane sound. This is most prevalent on "Return To Dust," an industrious slab of tunneling techno. "Mist Of 1807" is equally foreboding, with synths looping around an unrelenting tempo. The EP's pick—and arguably Dicicco's standout production to date—"Werk" suspends cosmic pulses over a machine funk backing. Meanwhile, in stark contrast to the other tracks, an immersive soundscape entitled "Plate Subduction" completes a strong label debut.
