- With Ibiza and the festival season about to get going, it's time for this year's summer smashes to start making themselves known. After the success of "I Cling" back in 2007, Deetron reunites with vocalist Ovasoul7 on Out Of My Head. Heavyweight remixers KiNK and George FitzGerald complete the package.
Deetron nails the original. Ticking multiple big room boxes—driving bassline, rolling synths, quasi-progressive stabs—it's contemporary house at its most accessible, garnished with Ovasoul7's soaring vocals. KiNK sticks by the same formula, beefing up the breakdowns with epic raises in pitch and adding a darker coating to Deetron's synths, but this only serves to muddy the original. George FitzGerald, on the other hand, flips the template on its head. Opening with the isolated combo of stabs and vocals, he cultivates an immediate intensity, adding his own resonant chords to potent effect. Maintaining the clarity of the original, FitzGerald pushes Ovasoul7 to the foreground, letting his tight, infectious tones carry the track. Expect to hear this in tents and on terraces all summer.
