- "Sat Around Here Waiting" is a lovely, summery thing. There's scant information available about its creator, New Jackson, save that he's based in Dublin and this appears to be his second release. The signing is a savvy move on Hivern Discs' part: its low-key, quietly catchy disco/house falls neatly in line with label co-head John Talabot's music. Thick, creamy keys and glassy percussion curl their way around a springy, live-sounding four-to-the-floor. The mood is melancholic but almost casually so, its overall muted feel countered by its brisk pace. That emotional ambiguity—between clubby forward motion and a downbeat vocal performance—is what lends the track much of its appeal.
The track's two remixers seem acutely aware of this delicate balancing act. They both leave its basic structure intact, vocal and all. Fort Romeau simply opts to fill out the spaces a little more, furnishing it with a chunky, staccato bassline to (marginally) more muscular effect. Barcelona's Pional highlights its hazy disco side, drawing the track into sharper relief with glossy chord stabs that rain glitter downward through the mix.
