Davide Squillace & Guti - The Other Side of Hustler

  • The idea behind Davide Squillace's This And That Lab is to fuse "label and think tank, combining music, art and culture as a platform for like minded artists to develop creative projects." But how it really differs from your average record label is a little unclear—the website seems like a snazzy place to document and promote Squillace's every move. This and That Music, the label arm of the enterprise, is at its fourth release, with Davide Squillace once again teaming up with Guti for a follow-up to 2011's "The Ginger Ponytail." "The Other Side Of Hustler" is a similarly groove-centric affair. Guti's vocal flickers add a rich gauze to the track's infectious, driving frame. Whoever crafted the bassline deserves props here—it should have you throwing shapes from start to finish. While never famed for his productions, Carl Cox constructs an astute interpretation, beefing up the track's thrusting chassis and adding in tasteful, big room stabs to better suit his own stadium antics.
