Kris Wadsworth - Uranus 111

  • It was only a matter of time before an artist as in touch with his likes and dislikes as Kris Wadsworth started his own record label. In Wadsworth's case that means limited-pressings, 180g vinyl, a couple of tracks and no follow-up releases in the pipeline. (And of course a totally flippant name.) "111a" is trademark Wadsworth. Stunted 303s bumble over pounding kicks. Soft, shimmering synths sit beneath a pummelling framework, nicely offsetting the pressure with some lighter, housier touches. "111b" opens with an extended, hypnotic intro, luring the listener into the abyss. A catchy snake-charmer synth glides over more thumping kicks, while snares and claps pile in to form a brutal, cacophonous whole. However intense his records get, though, Wadsworth never loses sight of the groove.
