Super Style Deluxe - Let The Drummer/Flash Dance

  • After pulling off a slamming remix for downtempo masters, Bent and releasing their first, highly respected single, Newfold/Oldfold, Super Style Deluxe bust out the massive beats, bass and classic samples for Let The Drummer. Side A1. Let The Drummer Similar to the beat stylings of labels like Catskills and Grandcentral (organic drum beats that are a little too fast for hip hop and a little too slow for breaks), the original mix of Let The Drummer is pure funk, offering enough tempo to pull dancers off their arses and forego the "sit down and nod your head" style of dancing. A catchy bassline, jazzy keyboard and the same sample that the Deadbeats used on their Funky For You, make up the rest of the track. Side A2. Let The Drummer (Drumattic Twins Mix) Fingerlickin favourites, the Drumattic Twins, take the tempo up a notch to 140 bpms and turn Let The Drummer into a breaks tune of Fingerlickin proportions. Keeping true to the original bassline, this is definitely a dancefloor workout - similar in style to Drumattic tunes like Mutate The Beat and Smokin' It Side B. Flash Dance Back to the 80's we go on the flip side and Flash Dance brings back the cheesy synth sounds that gave rise to the electro/new wave sound and transports them over to break beat. Similar to the Plump Dj's remix of Mr Velcro Fastener's Electric Appliances crossed with the Miami Vice theme and laced with Sugarhill Gang samples throughout. Watch the tracksuits come out for this one. Definitely a 12" with a lot of potential especially with the rise of retro beats going on right now.
