Eduardo de la Calle - Analog Grooves #1

  • Share
  • For almost two decades Eduardo de la Calle been making house and techno in his Spanish homeland. Of late, he's run his own Analog Solutions imprint and picked up props from the likes of Loco Dice for being "one of the underground's best kept secrets." On the strength of this two tracker, though, it's hard to work out how his profile has remained so inconspicuous. The so-called club side "Never Summertime Again (Re-modelled mix)" is at once smooth and soothing but purposeful and prying, right on the line where deepest house and dubbiest techno are but one and the same. The whole thing hangs around a wiggling acid line as a breathy voice from Theo Parrish's "Summertime Is Here" fades in and out of the humid, thickly coated mix. Ambient side "E2E4 (Rave Signal Re-work)" sounds like Kraftwerk on ketamine—unapologetically synthetic noises and thin, tinny keys dissolve into blistered droplets of fizzing electronic doom. It's a brave track to add as the alternative to the other side, but the A-side alone is worthy of close inspection.
