  • The time has come for Yoshitoshi as it reaches 100 releases. There aren’t many in the game who can boast a very impressive list of artists like them and its close to say that nearly every release has been looked upon by a global audience. To make things special, Yoshitoshi have got together 4 remixes of some of their classic tunes. All remixes will be released on limited one-sided singles then later on will be available in a double pack. Halo, Hipp-E & Tony present The 6400 Crew – Dubb Me Some’tin Fresh (Phil Kieran remix) Phil Kieran grabs the original by the horns and reworks this progressive track into a spinning, pumping house track. The remix utilizes many of the original sounds but the additions of intense hooks and chunky bassdrums bring this track up onto another level. The original has a great bassline which has been used in Phil’s mix with devastating results. Eddie Amador – House Music (Filterheadz remix) Eddie Amador has been responsible for some very notable house tracks over the years and many of his top tracks have been released on Yoshitoshi. ‘House Music’ is probably one of his best house tracks and who else would their be to remix his work other than the hot Belgian duo Filterheadz. The boys have gone all out here in a superbly produced house track keeping things controlled whilst picking up the pace from the original. A truly groovy house track with tight melodies and low end riffs mingling together accompanied by the great vocals. As the vocal states, “Not everyone undertands house music. Its spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing”. Classic house! Alcatraz – Giv Me Luv (That Kid Chris remix) ‘Giv Me Luv’ appeared on Yoshitoshi ‘In House We trust 2’ and if it didn’t it would have been a tragedy. Its one great vocal house track which had the ability to astound music lovers globally. Here we see American producer That Kid Chris get his little mits on this gem and the results are quite remarkable. Whilst keeping the track following along nicely, he gives power to the melodies and vocals. Subconsciously the track builds but you don’t notice until it hits the breakdown. The solid beats, stabbing low-end sounds and the almost electro synths round out a great house number. Luzon – The Baguio Track (Chus & Ceballos Iberican remix) ‘The Baguio Track’ has been remixed by some top names including Bedrock, Saeed & Palash and Luzon themselves. Known for their glorious, uplifting and almost religious vocals, Luzon are no stranger to making great music. The same thing would have to be said about the Iberican stars of Chus & Ceballos who are renown for their skills as producers for Yoshitoshi. Immediately their brand of island goodness swells over with perfectly programmed beats and percussion. Some rather different synths drop in and really give this mix an original feel as they take you by surprise. The moving synths flow in with the vocals closely behind. If there is anything more emotional to listen than the vocals from Luzon, then I’m definitely in the wrong business. The percussive breakdown is gorgeous as the low synth exposes the melody and drops in so smoothly. I can’t say anymore about this track as I’m astounded. Quite possibly the mix of the four. To round off, the music talks for itself here and the experience of 99 releases on Yoshitoshi shines through in what can only be described as a must buy.
