About

  • Founded in Belfast, 2000 by thatboytim (!Kaboogie,Digital Distortions), therarelowry, and agent foot with the intention of injecting some life to dancefloors with a rudimentary but original blend of detroit techno and electro, chicago jack trax, and a general love of alternative sounds and lifestylesDebut 12" TAKEOVER featured their eponymous anthem, and was picked up on by the likes of Laurent Garnier , and Two Lone Swordsmen who featured it on a Rotters Golf Club special on BBC Radio 1. After a further four eps over the following years the label had featured Ed Devane, Redmonk and t.polar's first vinyl apppearances, and an increasingly dubby and broken beat trajectory. "Together(in the dark)" from Take03 featured on Radioactive Man's Fabric mix c.d. After 3 year hiatus thatboytim has once again gathered like minded producers and thinkers to present our expression of what we want to create and share. From more traditionally influenced artists such as The Parallel's deep electronica pulsations, to Ed Devane and T.polar's idiosyncratic takes on rhythmic structures, we hope to to present exciting music with functionality. Further interaction and exploration of sounds is encouraged by getting on board some of Ireland's top producers to remix tracks. Remixers include D1's Educution, and Sunil Sharpe of Mantrap and Bastardo Electrico fame. Response Unit 1 - TAKE101 marks the return of Takeover with five tracks by Jay Roirdan, The Parallel, T.polar, Rogue Frequency, and Ed Devane, working from deeper sounds, through raved up beats, to Ed Devane's meltdown grind. Further releases will feature work by label co-founder thatboytim, with remixes, and artist e.p.s from T.polar, Ed Devane, Rogue Frequency, and Black Sea Project. At a time where Ireland is awash with music production talent, it is exciting to envisage the next wave of takeover artist releases and collaborations.
